I will call him "Mr. Candy" here.
Mr. Candy has been dancing tango for.....50...60 years, or whatever, longer than certain point is not gonna make any difference.....
He is THE MILONGUERO guy.
One day, I went to a milonga "apple" as usual after I had my hair cut.
NOBODY (including my lady-friends) noticed my hair style change except MR. CANDY.
When he looked at me from distance, after cabeceo,
the first words he told me was...."SU PELO! (your hair!)"
Oh yeah, he is the milonguero guy who has been womanizing (?? LOL )and doing cabeceo for more than a half of the century.
Of course, his dance is super.
When I dance with him, he starts flattering,
"you and I are so good together and we dance fantastic together! we become a great couple, so why don't we do out for a dinner?"
He is the sweet and cute guy.
Once he knows I am from California, he start talking in strange English like...
"VIVA California!" with strong Castillano accents.
Finally, at the end of tanda, "I am Mr. Candy. I love you!"
he would say that everytime I dance with him.....
It might be difficult to understand this guy's attitude to a woman if you are from Japan or US, but here in Argentina, this is just like saying "hey, how are you?"
They would say...
"you, pretty girl, you look so beautiful today."
"it is so wonderful to dance with a gorgeous beautiful woman like you."
"Everything about you is beautiful. I would be so in love with you!"
it is unbelievable guys are so good at this.
Some people say Japanese or American ladies fall so easily in love with them and take those flattering as what they meant by words, but actually they don't mean what they say.
Those can be considered as sexual harassment, definitely.
On the other hand, Argentinian women will worry that they are hopelessly ugly or terrible looks if they don't get those flattering all the time.
Those guys are milongueros who dance really good but also good at flattering and handling women so nicely.
From outside, they look just another old guys.
They might be quiet and serious, but they might be shy.
They often start singing karaoke when they play their favorite tango with canta (singer).
They get mad at the coffee that the waiter brings, "this is not hot enough!!"
They love to argue on something, "this is have to be this way!"
They are stubborn.
ミロンゲロたちはブエノスアイレスの歴史と文化そのものだと、わたしはいつも思うのです。
I believe those milonguero guys are living history and culture in Buenos Aires.
