PROFILE:    Kazuko Taniguchi

kazuko
In 2004, Kazuko discovered Argentine Tango while living in the United States.   A month into her tango life journey, she decided to go to Buenos Aires to better understand the heart of Argentine Tango.   There, she found rich and tradition-filled world of Argentine social tango carried on by old milongueros and milongueras who had been dancing tangos for decades.   Right there and then, she decided to learn and immerse herself in this style of dance, "tango milonguero."   Before she returned to US, she had promised herself to return to Argentina and continue her journey as a milonguero dancer.

In 2006, she did return to Buenos Aires and stayed there for more than six months to fulfill her dream of becoming a milonguera dancer.   Everyday, she immersed herself in the milonguero tango world and quickly, she became one of the favorite dance partners of old milongueros at traditional milongas.    Furthermore, her love of milonguero tango took her to develop skills as a milonguero style teacher by learning the milonguero craft from Argentinean milongueros.

Since returning from Argentina in 2007, she has been promoting Tango Milonguero to the tango addicts and non-addicts alike in Tokyo.   Her mission is to carry on this very personal and rich milonguero style of tango in Tokyo to both young and old generations who are adventurous and romantic at heart.
